John,
A few years ago you kindly supported me when I was campaigning to stop the closure of a local REMPOLY factory in Poole. During which I led a small team who ran 120 miles from Poole to The H. of C. over 30 hours to deliver a petition and hold a meeting with the Secretary of state for Work and Pensions. I am curently incensed by the way the system has treated one of my ex-students and would like to discuss the situation with you.
He is an ex SAS soldier who left the army a couple of years ago and joined my Foundation degree in Business Management at Bournemouth and Poole College. Unfortunately, on his last tour of duty he was based out in Helmand and led a patrol into a Al-qaeda ambush. It was a particularly bloody fire fight during which time they ran out of bullets and ended up hand to hand fighting. Sonny, unfortunately now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and has been involved in a couple of fights.
Last year he spent sometime in Dorchester Young Offenders prison following an altercation with a security guard who wouldn’t allow him into the University halls of residence where was living late one night when he returned from a night out. He was released a few months later on license but was re-arrested just after Christmas when he missed a meeting and consequently broke his terms of release.

For the last three months he has been sitting in Winchester prison waiting to see a his probation officer during which time he has tried to commit suicide. He cut his wrists so badly he cut through the tendon and might lose use of his hand.
I’d also like to find out from you if there is any money available, UK or EU, that I can dip into to set up an organisation for ex-servicemen. In Bournemouth we have an amazing organisation called SWOP (sheltered Work Opportunities) that helps people who have suffered from mental problems re-integrate back into society.

I’d like to set one up for ex-service men and women and feel there is a desperate need for it, an estimated 20 % of current and ex-prisoners are ex-servicemen.

I have learned today about the renewed plans to extend Heathrow and my concerns, as they were previously, involve Cherry Lane Cemetery, where both my mother and father are buried. There joint grave is sacred to me and my family and the prospect of them being “dug up and dumped with all the other bodies somewhere else” is frankly horrifying. I now live 200 miles away in Yorkshire but would appreciate any information and reassurance you can provide.

Dear Mr McDonnell

I note that you are chairing a meeting on 26th against the adoption of the Swedish model on prostitution. If I am correct in assuming that this signifies your opposition to the proposed adoption, then I would like to say that I am extremely encouraged that a Labour MP is taking such a position (given the vocal stances taken by Fiona MacTaggart, and Mary Honeyball amongst others). I sincerely hope that adoption of the Swedish model will not be official Labour Party policy, and that, should a bill be brought forward, the House will be at least be allowed a free vote.

Although I now live in Cambridge, I was born and schooled in the London Borough of Hillingdon, so I hope you do not mind a non constituent contacting you in this manner!
