Community Christmas Reception

Today (Saturday) I held a Christmas reception for local community organisations at our local Hayes Campus of Uxbridge College.

This is a tradition I have started to bring representatives from local community organisations together to say thank you for all their hard work over the year for our local area. Also it is a way of bringing people together to help them to make connections.

The reception is for charity and so today we collected for three charities - the Intenational Red Cross, the Hillingdon Alzheimers Society and the Cranford Good Neighbours Project, which does such good work in bringing older people in our community together to enjoy themselves.

The weather was absolutely abysmal with freezing heavy rain but people still turned out and came long. It shows what a great community spirit there is in our area.

Thanks to everyone who made it and for all those who couldn’t come along but sent a donation to this year’s charities. Thanks also to Uxbrdge College and especially to Jean Potter for allowing us to use the college venue and for all Jean’s help as ever.
