A developer has written to local residents in the Hayes End/Charville area asking them to complete a questionnaire on the development of the Charville fields site, including Home Farm. The developer’s proposals include a possible housing estate, shops, hotel, business units and workshops. The questionnaire also includes the options of a nature trail, bridle ways and sports provision. This land is in the green belt and for decades we have campaigned as a community to protect this site from development as one of the last areas of green belt open space in the Charville and Hayes End area. It is clear that the developer is seeking to lobby the council and gain the support of the local communuty to build on this land. I am extremely worried about the effect of these develpoment propo, sals on the local environment and the well being of our community, particularly the impact of increased speeding traffic, congestion, pollution, the destruction of natural habitats and the placing of further heavy demands on our local public services, especially our health and education services. I am writing to local residents to alert them to this threat and I have convened a public meeting for local residents on Saturday 8th January 2011 at 10.30 am at Charville Primary School in Bury Avenue. If you are a local resident please come along.

My wife and I have attended both of the meetings arranged by John McDonnell and took part in the walk on Saturday.
The developers state what they will do with the land, at this time there does not seem to be a definitive idea what the Action Group wants to do with the land other than to retain the fields, the fields and general area will require constant maintenance.
Therefore is it not appropriate the a consensus view is agreed about the future of the area as soon as possible, the developers will see any lack of proposals by the Action Group in a negative way.
I know it is early days but this point must be considered .
Yours sincerly.

Mr McDonald, I attended the very well received meeting on the 8th January. At the end someone suggested that we write to the company in question to voice our opinions. Would you be kind enough to publish their address?
I’d also like to know from Mr Ryan the total number of questionnaires that were distributed?

As a member of the London Wildlife Trust and a resident we use these areas to walk through and watch the skylarks it would be terrible if any thing was done to spoil that

I just love the way that Damien M Ryan states quite a few times,
“We have absolutely no current proposals for developing the site”. Then goes on to mention the Localism Bill, correctly called the Decentralisation and Localism Bill. People should be aware that in this legislation, claimed to increase local say in what happens in their local areas, is a part to do with planning. This part states that should a project be considered to be for the benefit of the larger community, or in the national interest, then no local oppossition will be of any use. I suspect Mr Ryan is counting on many of the readers of this to not be aware of that section, and he and his cohorts will use that part to their own advantage. Fight this all the way, people.
I also love the way he suggests meeting John at a time convenient, most probably face to face, and no outsiders to here what he says to John. It clearly suggests he is not a local resident, since he would already be aware of the issues he desires to raise with John. He is also very careful not to mention his company. Very open and involving, do you think? Or not?

Here we go again, I remember the last ‘battle’ we had over the same fields.
Unfortunately My wife and I couldn’t attend the meeting.
I was brought up in Hayes End (70yrs ago) and have seen the land being built on over the years. Further development is NOT necessary or needed - the traffic is already very busy, especially with the large lorries using our estate delivering to the local shops. This area is already well populated and at saturation point. You have our full support in stopping the intrusion of ‘so called developers’ - even one development leads on to another and so on - leave the green belt as it should be - I’m sure the majority of residents and the ‘wildlife’ would be greatful.
Yours sincerely

I am very concerned and deeply upset at the proposals to develop on the charville fields site including home farm.
I have been a resident in the area for 15 years and grew up as a teenager roads away and to even hear that someone is thinking of developing on this land seriously upsets and angers me.
There is an abundance of wildlife and natural habitat in the area, the area from the uxbridge road pole hill to the lansbury drive end of the uxbridge road and working down towards the fields is over populated let alone looking at the whole borough! Hillingdon Hospital is crammed full, my partner is expecting a child and it is near impossible to get a parking space and to be seen on time due to the amount of people living in this area. I live in Grosvenor Avenue and I would 100% oppose the develop for those reasons i’ve stated as well as the absolute chaos the traffic will create no matter how the new traffic system is set up. Unfortunately i Have to work on the 8th when the meeting is arranged and am upset that i cannot be there to be quite honest, as would like to help as much as i can opposing this proposed scheme! My feedback along with my entire family and neighbours I have spoken to is a ‘DEFINATE NO’.
Yours Sincerely

Dear Mr McDonnell,
Your letter dated the 9th December last was kindly passed to me by one of our neighbours in Hayes Park and I feel it incumbent upon me to respond both out of courtesy and in an attempt to deal with some of your legitimate and timely concerns.
I should point out at the outset that the community engagement team and I welcome your interest in the consultative dialogue which has just commenced. However you appear to have been misinformed with respect to our intentions re the lands we own at Hayes Park and Home Farm. We have absolutely no current “proposals for developing the site including a housing estate, a hotel, shops, business units and workshops”. I attach a copy of the information letter which we issued to local residents and you will see that we have categorically and honestly stated that “at this stage we do not have any clear proposals for the site and are therefore keen to canvass the views of local people and neighbouring businesses”.
Your letter quite correctly points out that the existing lands are designated as greenbelt and whilst we are fully aware of that fact we believe that the current inaccessibility of the lands and the reality that they act as a barrier to the connectivity of the surrounding greenbelt land and surrounding communities is an unnecessary impediment to local integration and community development. We believe that with the proposed changes in planning legislation and the advent of the Localism Bill that now is the time for an open and candid discussion and debate on what might be the best use of the combined Hayes Park and Home Farms lands. Indeed, we believe it is our responsibility as landowners to consider how the site could provide wider benefits to the community.
I note that you have called for a public meeting on the 8th January next, which, unfortunately I am unable to attend because of a prior long standing family commitment. However I would respectfully request that at that meeting you clarify your previous statements in light my clarifications above.
I would welcome the opportunity of meeting with you in the near future to gain an insight into your desires and aspirations for the local communities as we have historically received some valuable feedback from local ward councillors and other appointed representatives. It would also give you the opportunity to gain a broader understanding of what we are trying to achieve and to gain some insight into the initial feedback from locals. Perhaps you could advise me by E mail of a number of available dates for such a meeting at your earliest convenience?
Yours sincerely,
Damien M Ryan
