Our local area is now facing the worst housing crisis since the Second World War. 900 local families are homeless and over 7,500 families are on the local housing waiting list with a wait of between 7 and 10 years before they have any chance of a council house. The Coalition Government is now cutting investment in social house building and cutting housing benefits. This means local families having virtually no hope of gaining a decent roof over their heads. In the private sector many buy to let landlords are making massive profits from housing families in overcrowded appalling conditions. I raised my concerns about the local housing crisis in the House of Commons this week.

I agree with you on a lot of points in your video John, having been on the receiving end of the private landlords (Moved again recently due to being evicted at the end of a lease for complaining about a dodgy boiler)However, you have to look at WHY we have a housing crisis in Hayes, and it is blatantly obvious - Mass immigration caused by the open door policy of the last Labour government and the current ConDem coalition. When we have a housing shortage and rising unemployment across our area,it is irresponsible to just keep loading more people in to Hayes - It is not fair on the local population, and is doing the newcomers no favours either when there is only substandard housing available and our local authority are being charged over the top rates for it.
