Major Breakthrough in Parliament for Campaign Against a Third Runway

There has been a major breakthrough in Parliament overnight in our campaign against the third runway at Heathrow. A number of non London Labour MPs have put down a motion in Parliament which calls upon the Government to “rethink its plans for a third runway at Heathrow and give full consideration to alternative solutions.”

For the first time Labour MPs from around the country have come out against Heathrow expansion. This demonstrates that there isn’t a majority in Parliament for a third runway.

It is increasingly clear that the Government will have to reconsider its Heathrow policy given the escalating opposition from MPs drawn from all the political parties.

This spells the end of the runway proposal.

I found it quite amazing that BA blames it’s recent decline in profits on the fact that they need another runway. It seems more probable to me that people are travelling less, and therefore there is no need for expansion at Heathrow. The people of Hayes certainly don’t want it, and are so grateful to you for your continued enthusiastic fighting on our behalf.
