Visit to Hayes Station Site Ballymore Development

I visited the new housing, hotel and shops development on the Station sidings site in Hayes Town Centre today. The site will contain a mixture of very high quality social and private housing. This includes a range of family sized properties and even some flats especially designed for people with disabilites Most of the new social housing will be for local families. Thames Valley Housing Association will own and manage the social housing and the properties that are part owned part rented. The new homes overlook the canal and a really lovely secure children’s play area. There is extensive CCTV on site, monitored by security staff and a property has been set aside with the aim of eventually locating a local police team for the town centre on the site. The buildings have been designed to new environmental standards with solar panels, a biomass heating system and all the garden areas watered by an eco system utilising rainwater drained from the roofs. There is a town square area on the site with shops. Already a Tesco’s Express and Starbucks have decided to locate there.

As I toured around the new site I visited a number of the properties and was impressed with the family size of the properties and the high standard of the workmanship, fixtures and fittings. I met a local young woman, Paris, who is making sure all the new properties are ready for people to move into over the next month. I also met Natasha from Thames Valley Housing Association, who will be based in the new development to welcome the new residents as they move into their new homes and to assist them in settling in. I interviewed Natasha to find out more about the new development and to see what she thought of the new homes.

Thanks for the great article and interesting video. As I see this one is written few years ago and now there is nothing new made in this area. I was in Hayes Town Centre half a year ago and seen absolutely nothing. However let’s hope that everything will be all right soon.

Maybe Mr Arnold should go out and get a job and rent one of these flats if they are so ‘perfect’ for him.  If he has neither the intellegence or the willingness to do this then maybe he should get used to living with mumsey.  If being a racist is a full time position then I am sure he would be very good at it.

I am a single guy who at 33 still lives with his mother, One of these flats would be prefect for me but i bet my bottom dollar i dont get offered one.

Previously there have been issues in the area where ex offenders have been rehoused after release. Is this another example of this? The problems Hayes face is crime due to this factor. What is the current steps being taken to overcome this? Also is this going to turn out to be a modern day estate that have previously being knocked down(found to be epi centres of crime)? I can imagine this being like Golf Links or Northolt estate of the 21st century. Hopefully its not!!
