This Saturday I visited the Prakash celebration at Guru Nanak School, Brookside Community Centre’s “Brookside’s Got talent” show and the Yeading Meadows Nature Day at Yeading Junior School.
The Prakash at Guru Nanak School brought literally thousands of Sikhs from all over the area in a celebration of the principles of Sikhism.
Brookside community centre organised a talent show for local young people, with fantastic traditional classic Indian dancing, excellent singers, a really talented Tamil youth modern dance group and a superb team of Irish dancers.
At Yeading Junior School the National Grid, which is constructing a pipe line through our area, organised a Nature Day celebrating our Yeading Meadows. This included guided nature walks, willow weaving and pot making, an exhibition of the archaeological finds from the pipe site, and the showing of the posters painted by local children on the theme of nature. We also were treated to a smoothie made using cycle powered electricity. I filmed the amazing cycle powered smoothies making.
