Opening of New Nursery at Rosedale College in Hayes
Last Saturday along with the Mayor and local children, I opened the brand new nursery at Rosedale College in Hayes. This is a wonderful new nursery for local families and is managed by an excellent child care specialist, Debbie Kearns. Debbie has made a real mark locally assisting in the training of local nursery workers to a very high standard and promoting good quality child care in the area. I was the Chair of the Early Years and Childcare Partnership and also Chair of the Surestart Partnership when we developed with Clive Neathey, the dynamic headteacher at Rosedale, the idea of a nursery at the school. So I was so pleased to be invited to the opening of this wonderful facility. I interviewed Debbie about the nursery.

Third Runway Statement when I was Suspended From Parliament
On the day of the Government’s announcement approving the expansion of Heathrow I was suspended from Parliament for lifting the mace in protest at the refusal of the Government to allow a vote in the House of Commons on this issue. I felt strongly that this was a denial of democracy and therefore took the only action I thought open to me to draw attention to this decision. Since then I have convened a series of meetings in the constituency speaking to over 1000 constituents and writing to and leafletting the homes of thousands more.
