John McDonnell chaired a meeting of the People’s Parliament last night focusing on non-military alternatives to building long-term peace and stability.

conscience2.jpgGuest speakers included Richard Jolly (Former Assistant Secretary General of the United nations), Richard Reeve -; Director of Sustainable Security, Oxford research Group, Shahrar Ali -; Deputy Leader of the Green Party and Conscience Campaign manager Shaughan Dolan.

The event also served as a launch for the public consultation of Conscience’s Taxes for Peace Bill which will enable Conscientious Objectors to Military Taxation to have the military portion of their income taxes redirected towards more peaceful alternatives.
