John McDonnell MP along with Zac Goldsmith MP met with Marcus Agius, Trustee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Chair of the Kew Foundation to lobby him about the cuts in staff taking place at Kew.

John said “I understand there are likely to be 125 jobs lost, one sixth of the workforce, at least half of these will be from the scientific staff. I am worried these cuts will threaten the future of Kew as a base for scientific research”.

The MPs will now lobby the Government for long term stable funding for Kew Gardens.
