John has been our community MP

John has lived in Hayes & Harlington for over 40 years. Married with three children, John has always served our community in his role as the MP, local GLC councillor, and founder and member of numerous local community organisations working to improve the quality of life for everyone living in Hayes & Harlington. Since being elected MP for Hayes & Harlington in 1997 he has gained a reputation for his hard work on behalf of local people, pioneering the role of a community MP, and for his honesty and integrity. He concentrates on working tirelessly within our community, supporting local residents to tackle the issues that are of concern to us all.

Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer

John was Jeremy Corbyn's campaign agent during his successful election campaign for the Labour Party leadership during the summer of 2015. Two days after it was announced that Jeremy won, John was appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer in Jeremy's shadow cabinet team.

Reputation for hard work

John has gained a reputation as the hardest working Member of Parliament we have ever had. Everyone knows a family or a local group he has helped, a local problem he has resolved or a local improvement he has achieved. Even his political opponents have put on record their admiration for his tremendous commitment to our community.

A Local Man

In this election John is the only candidate who lives in the constituency. For over 40 years he has lived in our community and has worked hard for us as a GLC Councillor, MP and as a volunteer in numerous community groups. He is devoted to our area.

A Man of Integrity

When the Daily Telegraph exposed MPs for fiddling their expenses, John was one of the few MPs described by the newspaper as one of the "saints" for his honesty.

An Independent Voice

John is a strong and independent voice on our behalf in Parliament. John always speaks and votes on what is best for his constituents. He has never been afraid to stand up for our area no matter what the party line is. He has never let us down.

A Man of Principle.

What John stands for:

Agreed. This is the way that fascists and champagne socialists always operate. The veneer of civilization is not very deep. Scratch the surface and you find the thug lurking.

Mr Green, Just put it in one entry and say it like it is. McDonnell’s pulling the strings of momentum and telling them to go out and give stick to those who are against “us” is akin to every suppressive political movement and regime in the last hundred years. That is something more sinister which is potentially more dangerous for the country and economy. McDonnell and Corbyn are driving labour toward a Chavez/Maduro type or indeed Corbynista party where a core of grassroots supporters are stirred into a intimidation machine towards dissenting members of the party and opposition. The trick of this type of radicalisation and intimidation is for distancing responsibility and the old divide and conquer tactic. Let it happen but say its wrong in part, blame many, especially your internal and external opposition, but not really condemn your support base claiming it to be a misguided few, when others kick up a stink against you, call them divisive and unpatriotic whose sole aim is to undermine your vision and who wish to sabotage the changes you want to make. Who else does this, oh yeh some fella called Trump. SSDD
Apart from that McDonnell only addresses local issues if there is political gain through increasing his support base. But there is an issue which McDonnell is aware of and did nothing and my guess is for political capital. For the past 20 years at least, Hillingdon council has cocked up the process of introduction of around 80% of parking restrictions schemes throughout the borough and they are not compliant in comparison with the rest of the country. The potential cost to the council to pay back those fines will be in the 10s of millions of pounds which has to come out of transport and infrastructure.. McDonnell has been made aware of this, the council has been made aware of this and the parking contractor has been made aware of this and the person responsible is the person responsible has final say in complaints. Yes a high level investigation which was a clear conflict of interest was swept under the carpet by the responsible party. Then again it is someone whom McDonnell has dealt with for a long time and backed them up when it came to light. You would think that the MP would look into an issue that could have a catastrophic impact on local finances wouldn’t you but instead said it is a civil issue
Let’s see how long this stays up, or will it be a similar case as his constituency office answering machine, nobody at the office really takes care of it or responds to messages because it’s not the Godfather of pretentious traditional socialism route of contact.

And, of course, John still believes in state socialism, despite that system bringing poverty and misery wherever it’s been attempted. His sense of buoyant optimism is truly inspiring.

What about: John wishes to abolish capitalism? You forgot to list that one.

As a local man you are aware of parking problems around the office at least. However there is a potentially damaging issue relating to the illegal introduction of a large number of parking related schemes and abject failure in the borough and the constituency by the council that may affect funding elsewhere. The information has been sent to you and it is imperative that review it urgently. Show us that you can live up to the adoration which has been displayed here.

I’m very inspired by what you’re doing in your role as shadow chancellor. You’ve kept a steady hand on the tiller through rough seas and kept your eyes on the prize. A Labour government for all the people. Thanks

great MP and one of the very few public figures left with integrity and honesty. really respect John McDonnell for that. We really need more genuine politicians like him and Jeremy. Hope they win the next election – the country needs it.
