John McDonnell leads a delegation of local MPs and health officials to meet Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Health, to secure more resources for Hillingdon Hospital.

In a recent report from the Care Quality Commission the fabric of the buildings as Hillingdon Hospital was describes as “something out of the third world.”

John McDonnell MP raised the state of Hillingdon Hospital’s buildings with David Cameron at Prime Minister’s Question time and secured a meeting with Jeremy Hunt as the minister responsible for health.

The delegation will include all three Hillingdon MPs.

Alongside John McDonnell will be John Randall MP and Nick Hurd MP and representatives from Hillingdon Hospital.

The hospital was planned for a £200 million complete rebuild under the last government but this was halted by the new government after the election in 2010.

There is a need for immediate works of £100 million to keep the hospital operating safely and effectively.

John said “We cannot allow Hillingdon Hospital’s buildings to deteriorate further. We desperately need an immediate injection of investment. That is what I will be arguing for at the meeting with Jeremy Hunt. The three Hillingdon MPs will be speaking with one voice on this.”
