This week I convened a meeting of the cross party group of MPs campaigning for the release of Shaker Aamer. After raising Shaker’s case with the Prime Minister and with the US Embassy, we have applied for a Parliamentary debate to garner more support for the release of Shaker from Guatanamo Bay. We are also planning to send a delegation to Washington to meet officials from the Obama administration to press for Shaker’s release and return to his family in London.
