John McDonnell MP applauds resident’s effort to stop Powerday’s 450,000 tonne recycling plant in Tavistock Road going ahead.

John McDonnell applauded the way people of Yiewsley and West Drayton have worked together to protect their homes, businesses and places of worship to prevent the construction of a 450,000 tonne Materials Recovery and Recycling Centre at The Old Coal Depot, Tavistock Road, West Drayton

Powerday has issued a statement saying that it has decided not to proceed with a planning application to build a recycling plant on the Coal Yard site Yiewsley.

“The company will now consider options for the Tavistock Road site and will in due course consult with Hillingdon Council, local residents and community groups together with existing occupiers and Network Rail.”

John McDonnell said “This is a major victory for our local community. We came together as a community and won the argument overwhelmingly against this environmentally damaging proposal. It’s a great example of how people power can work.”
